Posted by Tina Coffey under: Field Reports .

Tina talks with Meg Swecker, Instructional Technology Resource Teacher from Roanoke County Schools. Meg discusses her recent diving adventure in Mexico, and how she used Voice Thread and Skype to connect with both elementary and middle school students back in Virginia. Meg also describes how she extended this project into a co-taught middle school English class to help foster writing and improve English SOL skills, and she describes all the different types of technology she used in the process.

As I posted at your first interview with Tina, you really broaden your audience by sharing directly what is happening in our K-12 schools. I especially enjoyed Meg sharing how she designed and implemented the project to add depth of understanding for the participating students. The idea of using VoiceThread as a first step way to telecollaborate for novice technology using teachers is a terrific idea. And Tina is a natural interviewer. Super Job Tina.

Jeff Utecht and I will be starting a podcast in January that has a format very similar to the recent shows you posted. We will be interviewing educators in Asia about their innovative instructional strategies and creative ways to use technology to support student learning. You GenTech boys can cover the West and we will do the East. :)
