Love your podcasts. The ideas and learning concepts you discuss are just as applicable to higher ed as they are to K-12. I’m using a wiki in a physical therapy class.. The students are constructing a resource that they can refer to - now as they study, later as they prepare for boards, and practice, and refer patients to for information. I’m hoping they can use it to share the insights they have as they go along, the connections they see.

I’m hoping to have your discussions inspire similar interactions among our faculty. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Linda,

Thanks for the positive feedback, eh! Indeed, the concepts and ideas that get bandied about here at GenTech are applicable to any learning stuation, be it K-12, higher ed, or even non-formal/informal. That there seems to be something for everyone is one of the things I find so exciting about generative technologies and the Web2.0 philosophy.

I really like the sounds of the wiki your students are developing, especially since it\’s application seems to go well beyond addressing a limited, immediate need of your your students. I should like to learn more about what you folks are up to down there in peach country ;-> Would you mind sharing the web address of that wiki?

Thanks again, Linda… Stay tuned, eh!

This wiki is just in the initial phase of development - we’ve just been at it for a couple of weeks.- It is at:
http://phth5202.serversidewiki.com/

I’m planning to set up another one for a public health course later in the term. That usually brings in students with a wide variety of backgrounds, so the discussions are frequently richer than in a typical college class.

I would love to hear any suggestions for structuring discussions/interactions on wikis. -

Linda

I listened to your podcast with a lot of interest. These web apps seem like they could be very useful in an educational environment and I’m glad they’re being considered.

Also wanted to leave a quick note about video files and Empressr. You can upload .FLV (Flash videos) from your desktop or link to videos already on the web (new feature!).

In order to do either, click on Insert > Video from the Editor. A video asset window will appear with the Upload or Link options available. From there, select the option you want to use and upload or link to the video. The maximum file size for uploading a .FLV is 25mb.

It’d be great to see the kinds of presentations that are being made in the educational realm. Please send us links to your samples and we’ll feature it in our blog.
